Over the past two years or so, the skincare brand Sunday Riley has gained plenty of hype. The brands Luna Sleeping Night Oil and Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment have been plastered on beauty blogs and featured in “must try” stories. The Houston-based brand is praised for their natural ingredients and simple, clean packaging. So naturally, when I was suffering from breakouts and bored of my skincare routine I decided to give the brand a try. I went into Sephora expecting to get my hands on the Luna Sleeping Oil. However, while I was examining other products I spotted the Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra Clarifying Face Oil. The oil, which promises to clear congested pores and leave you with smooth, even, blemish-free skin, appeared to be the answer my uneven, bumpy skin needed. Originally, I was planning to purchase the 1.18 oz bottle, but when I saw the $80 price tag I decided to try out the $50 0.5 oz bottle before committing to the bigger size. When I got home I washed my face with cleanser and opened the bottle. I love the fact that it was green and smells effective (code for stinky). I like the feel it has on the skin. It’s not sticky at all and sinks into the skin nicely. Unfortunately, I didn’t find it to be all that effective. I used it every night (and a couple of mornings) until the bottle was empty and I didn’t see a noticeable difference in my skin. For $50 that was extremely disappointing. While I’m still willing to try another product from the line, the U.F.O. Ultra Clarifying Face Oil gets a thumbs down from me.
