Healthy Body, Healthy Mind: 4 Healthy Snacks That Will Nourish Your Body

Mindful eating replaces self-criticism with self-nurturing. It replaces shame with your respect for your own inner wisdom.”-Jan Chozen Bays

Since quarantine started, I decided to better myself by becoming more physically and emotionally healthy. Before quarantine I was filling my body with sugary coffees and unhealthy food on a weekly basis. I ate out at least twice a week and didn’t pay attention to the nutritional value of the food I was consuming. Although I wasn’t entirely unhealthy I knew I could do better. I’ve started cooking at home and have rejected frozen meals from my diet. I’ve also tried to be more conscious of how often I snack and what I eat for snacks. Here’s a list of snacks that I eat that satisfy my hunger and nourish my body:

Rice Cake with Peanut Butter and Banana

I know this snack might look strange, but I promise it’s delicious and will keep you full. Rice cakes are lower in calories than bread and are a great alternative to bread. Peanut butter is delicious source of protein while banana is a great source of potassium. The combination will give you an energy boost and put you in a good mood.

Berry and Banana Smoothie

Smoothies are the perfect way to curb a craving and feel refreshed and satisfied without feeling heavy. I use banana, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. You can check out my recipe here. Berries are great to add to your diet because they are loaded in antioxidants, high in fiber, help fight inflammation, can help manage and prevent diabetes and do so much more. This smoothie is super tasty and great to have midday as a snack.

Dairy-Free Yogurt

This healthy snack also doubles as a sweet treat. Yogurt is a great snack because it’s high in protein and strengthens your immune system. I love this oat based yogurt from Chobani because it comes with toppings and has a variety of flavors.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is and delicious and filling snack that will keep you full for awhile. I love how creative you can get with oatmeal. I like adding flaxseeds, peanut butter, and fruit to mine.

If you’re struggling with eating better these are great snacks to incorporate in your diet. They’re so tasty that you’ll hardly even feel the need to reach for a bag of chips anymore. Let me know if you try any of these out and comment below any healthy snacks that you like to eat!
