If you’re looking to seize the day, the best thing you can do is wake up, get your butt off the couch, and get your body moving. Now that we’re living in a technology obsessed era, you can easily get a great workout without even leaving your living room. Exercising outside of the gym/fitness class is great because you can go at your own pace and not have to worry about looking silly as you work on your form. Here are some of my favorite gym-free exercises.
Walking

Walking for 30 minutes or more a day is a great exercise because it increases heart and lung fitness, reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke, increases muscle strength, and reduces body fat. Completing 10,000 steps a day is a considered active. If you have a smart phone or a smartwatch you can track your steps and keep track of if you’re moving your body enough.
Running

Like walking, running builds strong bones, strengthens muscles, and improves cardiovascular fitness. Since my gym has been closed I’ve traded the treadmill for the outdoors and have been loving it! Being in nature is so much more enjoyable than exercising inside a gym.
Tip: Create a playlist that will pump you up and keep your motivated
Bike Riding
Bike riding is so fun it doesn’t even feel like exercise. Bike riding improves joint mobility, strengthens bones, decreases body fat, and improves posture and coordination.
HIIT

I love a good HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout because it’s extremely energetic and burns a lot of calories in a short amount of time, reduces heart and blood pressure, and helps gain muscle. If you’re looking for a good HIIT workout I would check out Pamela Reif’s YouTube channel as well as Fitness Blender’s HIIT exercise.
Dance Cardio
If you’re looking for another workout aside from bike riding that’s so fun it doesn’t feel like exercise, dance cardio is the workout for you. Dance improves the condition of your heart and lungs, increases muscle strength, and promotes better coordination and agility.
