A Simple and Elevated Picnic

In the age of social distancing it’s become more difficult to celebrate birthdays. The pandemic has left people scrambling to think of fun ways to celebrate themselves and their loved ones on their special day. While a Zoom birthday has the potential to be festive and fun, and a drive by party is a sure way to get the entire neighborhood involved (cue the blaring horns), there are also other ways to celebrate a quarantine birthday that will feel less “pandemic fun” and more “normal fun.” At a time like this, I’m sure we all could use a little normalcy. A picnic is a great way to get friends together (while also complying with social distancing rules) and create a trendy, memorable experience. If you’re planning a birthday picnic here are some tips to follow to make the experience memorable:

Decorate

Adding a couple decorations will take the vibe from an ordinary day in the park to a trendy, summery experience. Fresh flowers, a pretty blanket, signs and party hats will add an element of festivity.

Bring Food

It’s not a party without food! You can either cook your own food or order take out from your favorite restaurant. Using cute glasses for cocktails (or mocktails!) adds a sense of sophistication.

Do a craft

While eating is a fun activity in itself, you can add structure and creativity to the picnic by carving out time to do a craft. You could create a vision board, make a floral arrangement, paint, etc. Bringing a craft home is like having a party favor that will remind you of the great time you had.
