Wine and cheese. Peanut butter and Jelly. Bacon and eggs. Some of the best things in life have a pairing and so does summer: books. It’s the start of summer and the perfect time to add some books to your reading list. Whether you’re lounging by the pool or cooling off inside under the A.C., here are some books that should be hanging by your side.
The Handmaids Tale– Margaret Atwood
Anyone who knows me knows that The Handmaid’s Tale is my favorite nonfiction book. This unique story will cause you to think critically and may even shift your perspective on current issues. This book is hard to put down because Margaret Atwood’s words will keep you hooked.
The Testaments– Margaret Atwood
This sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale is both heartbreaking and triumphant. You’ll read from three different perspectives, allowing you to understand the characters in ways you otherwise wouldn’t. This book will answer some open-ended questions that Atwood left you with from the original.
Untamed– Glennon Doyle
I could hardly put this book down after first cracking it open. I laughed, cried, took pages and pages of notes, and got to know myself so much better after reading this book. Doyle tells her story in such a personal and relatable way that it’s impossible not to like her.
Everything Is Figureoutable– Marie Forleo
Marie Forleo’s spunky and determined personality makes this book so easy and enjoyable to read through. Each page is filled with her vibrant energy. As the title suggests, you’ll learn that you can figure out anything if you want to badly enough. You’ll definitely find some quotes to live by and powerful inspiration in this book.
You Are A Badass– Jen Sincero
If you’re on a journey of personal growth and self confidence, this book deserves to earn a spot on your summer reading list. Jen Sincero guides you through the process of believing in yourself and living your life through humor and relatability.
