Sunday night always gets a bad rep. People associate it with stress, chaos, and dread. In their defense, if you had an exciting weekend it may be disappointing to head back into the reality of working and having less free time. I love a fun weekend just a much as anyone else, it’s always nice to have room to be more spontaneous and live more for yourself instead of for your to-do list. With that said, it doesn’t mean that getting back into the work week has to be dreadful. With a little intentionality you can make your Sunday nights just as relaxing and refreshing as your Sunday morning. It can also be the perfect time to make sure that your week is the best one yet.
Clean your home
Cleaning is an essential part of any Sunday night routine. Starting your week on the right foot means preparing for it by creating a clean and productive environment. Clean up your home and allow yourself to embrace a fresh start. If you’re working at an office, make sure to tidy up your desk before you leave on Friday. You’ll feel much more positive if you sit at your desk and see a clean, crisp area instead of a mess from last week.
Look at your calendar
See what you have planned for the week ahead so you can prioritize and make the most of your days. I love doing this because not only does it help me manage my time, but also my finances. It’s best to be ahead of the game instead of defensive. You’ll be much more equip to handle what the week throws at you, if you have prepared for it.
Declutter your bag
I personally love decluttering my bag on a daily basis, but if you’re new to cleaning out your bags I recommend starting by doing it at the end of the week. During a busy week you may find that your bag becomes cluttered with wrappers, receipts, and garbage. Do yourself a favor by putting out the old and making room for the new.
Have a self care ritual
If you’re still dreading Sunday nights try creating a Sunday night ritual that you’ll look forward to. It could be an extended skincare routine, meeting up with a friend, or even doing a craft or watching a show. No matter what it is, make Sunday night your designated time to do that thing. Sunday night only is what you make of it. If you make it stressful, it will be stressful. If you make it fun, it will be fun.
Go to sleep early
Going to bed early isn’t a chore, it’s a form of self care. A simple way to ensure a good day is to go to bed early the night before. You don’t want to start your week feeling rushed and chaotic. Practice self care by allowing yourself to rest and prepare for the day. Create a special Sunday night whine down routine that is meditative and calming. It’s great to start out the week on an organized and energized note.
Feeling dread on Sunday night is a thing of the past! Make the most of your night and your week by taking time on Sunday night to relax and prepare yourself for the days ahead. How do you normally spend your Sunday night?
