Self Care Saturday: Walk To The Beat Of Your Own Drum

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone has had an amazing week. I had an exciting and fun week filled with friends and new opportunities. I have been itching for change for a long time and I feel like certain things are finally coming together. It’s really starting to feel like fall now! Last night I had dinner outside with a friend and I was shocked at how chilly it was. I’m looking forward to the fall time and all the new fall fashion and activities that comes with it.

This Self Care Saturday I want to talk about walking to the beat of your own drum. If you are someone like me, this could be a somewhat of a scary concept to you. Most people did not grow up in environments that promoted the idea of doing your own thing and walking to the beat of your own drum. Most of its were conditioned to stay quiet and fit in. Even people with good intentions will tell you to not rock the boat too much because they fear the unknown of if you did.

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away.”

This quote reminds me that no matter how you grew up or who you’re around, you deserve happiness and to live your life the way that you choose. Just because you’re different from those around you, does not mean that anything is wrong with you. Have you guys every dealt with feeling like that? Comment below!

  1. Agree with this, it is so important for us to be able to do our own thing and have time for ourselves, as well as trying to blend in generally not to mention the everyday stresses of life.

Sometimes the pressure to blend in is very strong. Nothing feels better than being authentically you. I definitely have struggled with it and I want to beat more to my own drum
