We have all had those moments of pity and self doubt. Those days when we feel wildly insecure and incapable of handling life. These days, with the internet, social media, and societal standards, people are more insecure than ever. No matter how good we feel, we can log onto social media and in two seconds see someone who is portraying themselves as better. Because we live in a world where comparison and self doubt runs rampant, it is more important than ever to build self confidence. A great way to build confidence is by repeating affirmations. Affirmations are positive statements that when repeated will help you to overcome self sabotage and negative thoughts. The more you repeat something, the more you believe it. By repeating affirmations you will start to believe in yourself and see positive change in your life.
Everyone has different aspects of their life that is important to deal with. Identify the language that you use when speaking to yourself and base your affirmations around the negative self talk. For example, perhaps every morning you look at yourself and think “ugh I’m ugly.” Instead of continuing to put yourself down, practice waking up every morning, looking yourself in the mirror and saying “I have a beautiful face and a beautiful body.” Say it again and again and identify which aspects of your face and body are beautiful. Make notes of those features and concentrate on them. Remind yourself how grateful you are that you look that way. Maybe you look at yourself and you can’t even name one feature that you like. This does not mean that you are free to talk bad about yourself. Instead, continue to repeat the affirmation “I have a beautiful face and a beautiful body.” If you say this while limiting negative self talk, you will find that overtime you will believe it.

“I am” and “I choose” statements are incredibly powerful because they remind you that you are everything that you want to be and that you have the power to choose your reality. If you don’t know where to start, try out these affirmations:
I am beautiful
I am smart
I choose to let go of judgements of others
I choose to be happy
I am in control of this moment
These affirmations are incredibly powerful because they will remind you that you are worthy and in control of your emotions, life, and actions. This is incredibly powerful because most people have not been taught that they are in control of their feelings and circumstances. I believe that recognition of this has the potential to change the outcome of your entire life. Time and time again, people are being programed to believe that they are a slave to their life, instead of being the creator of their life. Although it can be a hard pill to swallow to acknowledge that you are the one standing between you and the life you want, this could be the one thing that can change the trajectory of your life and your mindset.
If you struggle with negative self talk and your mind seems to always get the best of you, remember that you have the power to turn your life around. You are not your mind and not every thought that comes through your head is you. By silencing negative thoughts you allow yourself to take back control over your life. Saying these affirmations in the morning will shape your day and allow you to have a more satisfying and happy life and mind.
Do you repeat affirmations? If so, what are they and how has that practice changed you?

I absolutely love positive affirmations- I have noticed that I feel much more positive throughout the day when I start the day with positive affirmations. I loved the ones you listed. “I am beautiful” and “I am smart” are two of my favourite go-to’s.
