Let’s be honest, winter months can be brutal. Aside from the holidays, the whole shorter day, season depression, and freezing fingers thing can get old fast. Because of the uncomfortable moments that come with cold weather, many people dread when the temperature starts to drop. Although the cold weather can be brutal, your life is not going to be very enjoyable if you dread half of the year. While there are annoying aspects of winter, there are also so many aspects to embrace and look forward to. Keeping your eyes set on the positive will help you to live a more elevated life.

Holidays
They don’t call it the most wonderful time of year for nothing! The holidays are hands down my favorite part of the winter season. I love celebrating with my family, putting up Christmas decorations, watching Christmas movies, and visiting New York City to look at the all the lights and decorations. Even if you are not religious, there is always opportunity to get in on the festivities. Whether you drive around your neighborhood looking at decorations, head over to a holiday themed bar, or attend a holiday gathering, there is so much about the season to look forward to.

Cold weather fashion
As a fashion-lover, cold weather is one of my favorite times of year. I love breaking out my boots and coats. Have fun with winter fashion by treating yourself to a couple pieces during the season. Lately I have been really into trendy coats and cozy sweaters.
I got two patterned jackets from Anthropologie last year and I’m so excited to wear them this season. I love the bright colors and patterned looks. Because the winter is so cold, this is the perfect time to have fun with layers and add to your accessories. Adding a scarf or a hat is a fun way to change up your look and enjoy the cold weather.
Hygee
If you’re not familiar with the term hygee, you may want to get acquainted. Hygee is a Danish word that means “a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being”. The cold weather is the perfect time to completely embrace hygee. You can get snuggly and sit on the couch with a loved one watching Hallmark holiday movies (my favorite thing to do!), put a face mask and order take out for a cozy night in, or light candles and snuggle up with your most plush throw. To honor the hygee season, order a comfortable throw that can be your partner all winter long. I love these throws from Anthropologie because they look gorgeous and will add a touch of elegance and comfort to your home.

Embrace winter activities
I absolutely love winter actitives! One of my absolute favorite things to do during the chillier months is to go ice skating. A couple years ago, I went ice skating at Bryant Park with my best friend and it was such an iconic and memorable experience. This year I definitely want to add that to my winter bucket list. If you are not near an ice skating rink, spend some time outdoors. The summer isn’t the only time to embrace the outdoors. This is also a great time to embrace snowboarding, skiing, and building snowmen.
Depending on your outlook, the colder months definitely have the potential to be a depressing time. If you are intentional about how you spend your days, you can turn it into a celebratory and special time. Comment below what winter activities you look forward to.
