As you guys know, I love a cozy coffee shop. Whenever a new one opens up by me, I am eager to check it out. As I have mentioned before, coffee shops are the perfect place to chill out at any hour of the day. They have such a unique energy, being both cozy and motivational. It makes me want to plan for my life in an effortlessly, productive way.
Recently my sister Briana and our friend Thomas invited me on a coffee date to Rey Sol Coffee Roasters and I was more than happy to check it out. Bri saw online that they have a s’mores hot chocolate that looks DELICIOUS. This Ridgewood based coffee shop serves 100% Colombian coffee and serves breakfast/lunch foods including sandwiches, wraps, paninis, etc. I love coffee shops that offer more than just basic pastries because I love having a real meal with my coffee.

When I walked in Rey Sol Coffee Roasters the first thing that struck me was the rustic decor. As soon as I walked in I noticed the wood floors and Christmas garland that hung around the front wall. The workers were all decked out in Christmas hats and there were many holiday lights strung across the store. Across the back wall, there is a huge neon yellow sign that says “it’s a jungle out there.” This sign looks so fun and vibrant against a foliage background. Another really cool design touch is the doors that lead to the kitchen. They are large, sliding barn doors that have a rustic feel. Because it is Christmas time, they have lush garlands hanging on them, adding a festive feel.

I visited the coffee Rey Sol around 5:30 at night and they had already closed the kitchen at 4. Even though I was disappointed that I was not able to try any of the sandwiches, I decided to try something else out! I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and a blueberry muffin, while my sister ordered a hot chocolate and an almond croissant. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they created a super festive latte art on my sister’s hot chocolate! I love when coffee shops go the extra mile to add some joy to their drinks, it makes the experience much more special.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, the food and drinks were good and the ambience was super friendly and trendy. The only thing I would change its the seating. The seating is very limited and does not really provide enough space for the volume of people who come in. Other than that, I think this is a really great coffee spot and I am very happy we stumbled upon it. I definitely plan on heading over there again soon so I can try out some other items on the menu!
I love exploring cozy coffee shops (especially now that the weather is chilly) because I can drink a hot coffee and warm myself up in the most delicious way. This winter I hope to try out different spots near me. What is your go-to coffee shop beverage and where is your favorite coffee spot? Comment below!
