I am all about eating a delicious and nutritious breakfast? Can you think of a better way to start your day than eating something that is both tasty and good for you? Yeah, me neither. For years my breakfast go-to was scrambled eggs with cheese and an english muffin with butter. I really loved eating this because it is savory and left me feeling full. However, even after eating this around 8:30am, I would find myself reaching for a snack around 2 hours later. It was as if the initial fullness would die down fast and leave me feeling hungry again. I also found that all that dairy was leaving me super bloated throughout the day. Since then, I have decided to adjust my breakfast because I would like to lose a little weight and tighten and tone a bit. Instead of having a dairy filled feast, I have started to opt for oatmeal. Oatmeal is an amazing choice for breakfast due to its surplus of health benefits.
Oats are one of the healthiest grains on Earth and are a source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. Oatmeal is great to eat everyday because it:
- Can lower cholesterol
- Stabilize blood sugar
- May protect your heart and colon
- Can give you energy
Plain Oats can be a little boring so I like to spice mine up with some toppings. Check out my loaded oatmeal recipe:
3 strawberries cut in half
Handful of blueberries
1/4 teaspoon of Cinnamon
Drizzle of syrup
Teaspoon of peanut butter
Steamed Oat milk (or your milk of choice or hot water)
Of course you can add any fruits and vegetables that you like best! When I have blackberries on hand I like to add those. If you want to make it more sweet you can add Nutella and chocolate chips. This breakfast is great for everyone because it is extremely versatile. The oats are a great base and you can add whatever you else you like in order to fit your desired taste. What do you guys eat for breakfast?
