Happy Monday! One of my favorite things about this time of year is that it is rooftop season. There’s just something special about good ole elevation. My uncle had dinner at Marcus at NoHu Rooftop in Weehawken, NJ for his birthday in June and was raving to me about it. There are tons of rooftops in NYC but across the bridge in New Jersey there are fewer options. My sister and I had been wanting to go since we heard about it and this past weekend we made it happen.
Marcus Rooftop is on the 6th floor of the EnVue Hotel. This rooftop offers creative Southern style eats and a spectacular view of Manhattan. We were seated outdoors and I instantly connected with the vibe. Music played but it wasn’t overpowering or clubby, it added to the ambiance. There was a nice breeze and it felt very comfortable because we had our own space on the 15,000 rooftop. I ordered a cocktail called “Yes Chef!” that consists of vodka, fresh mint, ginger, honey, pineapple, lemon, and berbere. It was super refreshing and right up my alley, I love fruit cocktails. Normally I’m not a fan of vodka, i’m more of a tequila girl, but this one was very good. Instead of ordering an entree my sister and our friend ordered appetizers and shared with each other. We ordered cornbread, chicken wings, mac and cheese, and grilled asparagus. All the food was so good we ordered another round (lol). The food and drinks were pretty pricey so if you are on a budget I would recommend probably eating a bit before you go and having a couple light appetizers.

After about an hour of eating on the roof it started to downpour so we moved inside. The inside bar had a sophisticated touch and was also pretty spacious. At no point did we feel squished or like we were on top of other people. We sat on a couch and ordered tea and dessert. I had a dessert called “The Devil Is A Lie” which is a chocolate cake with a fruit (blackberry or raspberry maybe) filling. My sister ordered a raspberry cheesecake and both desserts were mouthwatering.

After dessert the rain stopped so we went back out on the roof and took in the view. It was so breathtaking at night seeing NYC all lit up in the distance. The rooftop had fire pits around so we stood by one and talked for a while. The fire was so mesmerizing and cozy, adding perfectly to an already special night.

I got home around midnight and passed out. On Sunday I decided to sleep in a bit and then clean up and get myself organized for the week. I washed my sheets, cleaned my bathroom, paid some bills, and worked on some upcoming blog posts. I watched Elena Taber’s reset routine on Youtube and it inspired me to set some intentions for the remainder of the summer. I want to be more organized and intentional with my actions and remember my goals. I don’t want to take my aspirations too lightly. In order to see results I need to be proactive and organized.
