I Drink From A $35 Crystal Water Bottle- Here’s Why

I recently traveled to Tulum, Mexico and found myself walking in and out of shops searching for souvenirs for my myself and my loved ones. I picked up necklaces, shirts, bags, you name it, inspecting them and then placing back down after deciding they were not exciting enough to come back to New Jersey with me. That pattern repeated itself until I wandered into a health store and something shiny on the shelf caught my eye. I found myself reaching for a crystal water bottle and as soon as I picked it up I knew I would be taking it home with me.

Unless you live under a rock, you probably have seen crystals popping up everywhere lately. These days, crystals are all the craze so it is not surprising to see them seeping into various markets. Yes, I own crystals and yes they sit comfortably on my nightstand. No, I am not someone who takes them everywhere with me and believes that they will solve all my problems. I have done my fair share of crystal research and have learned that they are each filled with their own healing abilities for the mind, body, and soul. I believe that crystals, like most gifts from nature, have high frequency and can be used for good. However, to me, crystals hold more symbolic power more than actual power. I believe that my awareness and understanding of a crystal is what fills me with the ability to feel positive energy and attract abundance. You chose what you give power to, right?

You’re probably thinking “okay cool you got a crystal water bottle, very Gen Z of you. What does it do?” Good question. Crystal water bottles are said to infuse your water with positive energy. Basically vibey water. The Glacce Crystal Elixir Water Bottle from Free People claims to put “positivity and purification into your daily routine with the all-natural, energizing effects of raw crystals. A pure crystal stone is firmly fastened inside each glass bottle, creating an elixir that supports revitalization and clarification of the mind and body.” Pretty grand claims. These days, it feels like the wellness industry consists more of placebo effects than actual science. I am fully aware that many of the claims may be a load of nonsense, but if it works, it works.

I know at this point this all sounds like a bunch of instagram Gen Z nonsense, but hear me out. While I don’t necessarily know if I am buying the idea that crystal infused water will solve all my issues and fill me with unexplainable peace, I do believe that drinking from this water bottle and looking at the crystal reminds me to be a bit more intentional throughout my day. It leaves me with a quick reminder to stay zen and loving, instead of letting my anxiety run wild and freaking out at my mom and boyfriend. And the best part is it does all this while looking Instagrammable. What’s not to love?
