Stoicism is a Hellenistic philosophy that dates back to early parts of the 3rd Century, BC, in ancient Greece and Rome, and is still practiced by men and women today. The stoic philosophy promotes positive emotions, reduces negative ones, and leads stoics to hone in on their morals and virtues. Stoicism focuses heavily on living a happy life built upon good intentions and balanced emotions. Stoic philosophy challenges one to be grateful for their circumstances, even in more challenging times. Unlike most, stoics do not view uncomfortable situations as negative, instead they view them as an opportunity to grow and cultivate patience and perseverance.
