5 Ways To Try Something New At Home

While most of us are spending extended periods of times at home in order to practice social distancing, it’s becoming more difficult to keep daily life exciting. Spending time at home doesn’t have to consist solely of Netflix and Instagram, there are so many simple activities you can partake in that will spice up your time at home and lead you to spending more time creating and learning, instead of only consuming.

Switch up your workout

Switching up your workout is a really great way to do something different in the comfort of your home. There are tons of great fitness Youtube channels that you try out. When I was bored at home during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic I decided to try out dance cardio. Just by simply trying out a new exercise routine, I felt so much better because I had something new to look forward to and practice. It also helped that I practiced dance cardio in my basement as opposed to my room, where I used to spend most of my time. Which brings me to my next point…

Spend time somewhere you normally wouldn’t

This may seem insignificant, but don’t underestimate the power of a change of scenery. You’d be surprised at how something as simple as journaling in a new location will shift your perspective and give you all kinds of innovative and growth oriented thoughts and ideas. If you normally hang out in your room, try spending an hour sitting on a living room chair you typically would neglect so you can sit on the couch. Your time here could be spent reading, talking, journaling, whatever you’d prefer!

Get creative in the kitchen

Trying something new in the kitchen is the perfect thing to do when you’re home because it feels like going to a new restaurant! Throw your chef hat on and try out a recipe you’ve been wanting to try (we all have one) but haven’t gotten around to. Check out my Pinterest for both sweet and savory recipes!

I hope you’re all staying safe, happy, and making the most of your time at home. Trying something new not only spices up your time at home, but also your life. One of my favorite quotes by Robin Sharma says “do not live the same year 75 times and call it a life.” Little changes can make your day, year and life a lot more vibrant.
