How To Set Health Goals and Actually Stick To Them

Now that it seems that quarantine and strict social distancing regulations are coming to an end, it’s the perfect time to decide which health habits we will stick to as we return back to our old lifestyles. Health goals aren’t just for losing weight or for dieting before a vacation. Becoming more health conscious should be a lifestyle change that you take on so that you can live the healthiest, more energetic life possible. If you want to stick to a healthier lifestyle by exercising more, eating healthier, etc., be sure to try these tips:

Have Someone Keep You Accountable

Having an accountability partner will be both the best and the worst decision you’ll make in your health journey. Having to deal with someone checking up on you and calling you out every time you want to indulge in unhealthy choices will be annoying but will motivate you to be better. It also helps to engage in a little friendly competition with that person so your health journey will feel more exciting and fun.

Don’t Keep Junk Food At Home

Here’s the trick, if you don’t put the double chocolate chip brownies in your shopping cart, you won’t be tempted to eat a double chocolate chip brownie when you’re awake at midnight craving a snack. I’m not saying you can’t treat yourself, but it’s best to make sure that your snacks aren’t home so you can’t overindulge.

Schedule Time To Workout

Nothing keeps you organized quite like a schedule. If you pencil in time to do something you’re much more likely to do it. Whether you only have 15 minutes to take a walk down the block or 1 hour to go to the gym, it’s a good idea to make time for it so you don’t forget or spend the time doing something else.

Wear Your Workout Clothes Throughout The Day

This tip isn’t realistic to do all the time, but some days when I’m home all day I’ll change into my workout clothes in the morning so I’m ready for a workout. Wearing my exercise gear makes it difficult for me to forget that I need to make time to get my body moving.

Health is very important, therefore it should be more than an afterthought. Make time to set intentions for how you fuel your body and take care of it. These are just a few tips that I’ve adopted in order to stick to my health goals. Comment below how you make time for your health!
