Do you ever find yourself feeling stiff and tired when you wake up? I hate those days when I wake up and my body feels kind of blah. Lately I have skipped out on some workouts and I have really started to feel it. Now that the holidays are around the corner and work has been busy, I have not had as much time to exercise as I normally do. Every time this happens, my body quickly starts to feel the absence of exercise. I find myself having lower energy and a shortened attention span, which makes it difficult to get things done. Whenever I get this way I like to turn to my tried and true trick to start my day off with energy. This trick helps my day to flow in the right direction. This trick is nothing other than a morning stretch. Your stretch could be anything from advanced yoga to 3 simple movements, it does not have to be anything fancy, you just want to get your body moving and have some blood flowing.
I love a morning stretch because it wakes me up and make my body feel strong and nimble. Stretching allows for an increased blood and nutrient flow throughout the body, leaving you feeling refreshed with an improved sense of invigoration. Stretching in the morning is linked to increased energy and higher levels of confidence, so if you want to completely conquer your day, consider adding this healthy habit to your morning routine.
Stretching has benefits for both your body and your mind. These benefits include:
- Better posture
- Prevent injury
- Reduce stress
- Increase energy
Taking some meditative time for yourself in the morning is sure to start your day off on the right foot. Get in touch with your body and practice self care by allowing your body to flow and experience the joys of movement.
